Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) issues for Third Countries

The main objective of this training workshop is to improve compliance with EU legislative requirements. This will be met through the provision of training on analytical techniques at EU accredited laboratories covering detection of mycotoxins (particularly aflatoxins and ochratoxin A), residue analysis (particularly veterinary drugs and pesticides) and the full range of currently employed microbiology techniques. A major result of the training will be to facilitate trade in foodstuffs between the EU and Third Countries.

The workshops will all follow the same basic methodology. The programme for each workshop will be delivered by a panel of tutors from different member states, selected on technical merit.

The methodological approach will

§         Include a balanced mix of training methods with emphasis on practical exercises

§         Encourage interpersonal relations and networking

§         Promote the uniformity and quality of control practice.

TrainSaferFood will organise 3 two-weeks workshops in Copenhagen, DK and York, UK.

In line with the specification, the workshops are as follows:

  • Course 1 Mycotoxins with particular attention to aflatoxins and ochratoxin in 2011
  • Course 2 Microbiology in 2011
  • Course 3 Residues mainly focused on pesticide residues in 2011
