Plant Protection Products

Workshops are aimed at providing training activities concerning the evaluation and registration of Plant Protection Products and control of their proper use and marketing.
The trainings will consist of a balanced mix of theoretical and practical trainings with emphasis on the practical exercises, using also case-studies. Discussion sessions will provide time for exchange of views and feedback from participants.

TrainSaferFood offers 2 courses

§         Training Course 1: Evaluation and registration of plant protection products (2 times 4 days)

§         Training Course 2: Control of use and marketing of plant protection products (once 3 days)

The main goal of Training Course 1 is to ensure that all Member States are operating a consistent approach to post-Annex I compliance checking and re-registration of plant protection products and to reduce the potential for legal challenges to both the EU Commission and to individual Member States from companies alleging that procedures have not been followed. Zonal system and Mutual recognition questions will be part of the programme of these workshops.
In the procedure of evaluation and registration of PPP, different groups of experts work on questions regarding toxicology, ecotoxicology, efficacy and residue behaviour. General issues regarding the implementation of Regulation 1107/2009 seem to be clear for the responsible agencies so far. But there are some technical questions left open in regard to the implementation of Reg 1107/2009. Questions arising on the implementation of Reg. 1107/2009 are different in the areas of toxicology, ecotoxicology, efficacy and residue behaviour, whereas questions regarding toxicology and efficacy may be the areas of biggest uncertainty. TrainSaferFood therefore proposes technical workshops taking into account the needs of those four groups of experts.
